Dear Friend,

We are still trying to come to terms with the tragic loss of our beloved son Ralph. Part of the healing process for us is to maintain Ralph’s name and image, but more importantly, to share his wonderful smile, his sense of fairness, dignity, respect for the young and old, his love for animals and the good human being he was, period. The 1000’s of letters, e-mails, calls and personal visits attest to that.

In lieu of flowers we established a Trust Fund in his name and so far the Ralph Gerhardt Trust donations have totalled over $50,000 and we have made the following commitment of disbursing 100% of the monies;

A ten-year commitment to the Don Mills Collegiate, a total of $5000, for the ‘Student of the Year Ralph Gerhardt Award‘.

A ten-year commitment to the Junior Achievements, a total of $15,000, for the annual ‘Company of the Year Ralph Gerhardt Award’. Ralph was their 1987 recipient and volunteered with them. www.jatoronto.org

The rest of the monies raised will go to our Family charity, Variety Village, a charity to help handicapped children, www.varietyontario.ca. We will create the ‘ Ralph Gerhardt Adventure Club ‘ whereby we will host various events i.e. a Fishing Derby, Camping, Canoe trips. A friend of ours owns a 50,000 acre working forest, adjoining the Algonquin Park, www.haliburtonforest.com and he agreed to be the home base for the ‘Ralph Gerhardt Adventure Club’.
